Rush Hour

It takes on a whole new meaning here in Hanoi. My mom and I tried to venture out to Craft Link and Koto for dinner last night. I think our first indication we shouldn't have gone was when we attempted to get on the sidewalk in front of our hotel. Here is what we saw:

Not only were the scooters 6-8 deep on the street, they were 2-3 deep on the sidewalks. Yikes! But we ventured foward, with just a bit (okay, a lot) of trepidation.

We made it to our destination....at least to craft link. Koto was closed so we had to do the whole walk back...with our backs to the sidewalk traffic. Yikes! I am pretty sure rush hour anywhere in the US doesn't compare to this kind of rush hour.

At least we met some great people on the way...

We also saw a rather disgusting sight...a man, uh, pooping on the sidewalk. Yeah, classy. And it was the story of the week until another family in our travel group saw a woman doing tai chi in the median of the road....completely naked. You always have to be on your toes here in Hano!

Now those are a couple of sights I'm glad I missed while in Hanoi. I really, really did like Hanoi, though. I hope you're enjoying it, too.
