{23.24.25.26.27.28/365} 0 for 6

Six days...really?  It's been 6 days since I posted?  Ugh.  I don't know where the time goes.  Thing is?  It's been a llloooooonnnnggg week.  Really, really long yet I feel like I haven't had time to do much of anything in the evening.  So glad it's the weekend.  So glad that I leave for Florida on Tuesday.  My parents and Aiden leave Sunday morning.  Feeling pangs of anxiety about being away from my boy but also know a small break will do my soul good.

{23} Aiden, what should I take a picture of?  "Me clapping!"

{24} Hanging out, watching Dora....with a little dinner saved for later!

{25} Aiden's newest obsession- wearing his snow boots around the house.  He even wore them to bed this night!
{26}  Weak.  The pictures are weak this week.  What can I say? I was going to post on Wednesday but there wan an incident.  It involved an almost full can of diet coke, an open refrigerator and an angry little boy.  It wasn't pretty.  I spent a long long time cleaning the fridge instead of blogging. *sigh*
 {27} Aiden's self portrait!

{28} Our New Year's Tree.  We are so bummed to be missing the Tet party this year.  It fell early and during our Florida trip.  Hoping to have a get together with other Vietnam families later in the month to make up for missing the celebration :(.

{22/365} "He's My Best Friend"

That's what Aiden says about Duc whenever we talk about him or whenever he sees his picture.  These two boys are quite a pair when they get together.  I love that Aiden has this friendship, this connection.  Tonight when we were looking at these pictures Aiden said, "Duc from Vietnam too."  The friendship with Duc and Erica is also pretty darn special to me too!  It's nice to spend the day with another single mama by choice.  We talked about how isolating it can be sometimes...makes the time we spend together even better!  And the boys, well, they always have a blast.
They are a dynamic duo...bosom buddies...identical cousins (yes, I overheard "I think they might be twins" *snort*).
And what happens when the Vietnamese restaurant is super busy and lunch takes close to two hours?  Actually, the boys were amazingly patient and good while we waited and waited.  We were all starving- Aiden devoured his food like nothing I've ever seen.  Let's just say they both got a little crazy. Erica and I realized we would be no match for two overtired, wound up 2 1/2 year olds!

{20.21/354} He's Baaaccckkk

Aiden seemed to turn a corner on Thursday- definitely feeling better.  No more fever.  Unfortunately, he had a bloody nose off and on all day from his nose being so irritated.  No fun.
Other than that, his energy was back and so was his appetite.  He ate 16 mini pancakes for dinner.  I don't know where he puts it!
So happy to see the smiles return.  Really big smiles...the ones that make his eyes just disappear! So happy to have my little Aiden Bao back to normal!

{18.19/365} Over it

I am so over sickness.  I am pretty sure Aiden is too.  We both just want to be healthy!  Aiden's fever shot up again on Tuesday afternoon so I called and got an appointment for this morning.  The verdict?  A nasty virus and an ear infection.  Aiden seems to have shared the virus with me too so we hung out on the couch most of last night and today.  He took a 3 hour nap this afternoon and rallied a bit afterwards.
At 9 tonight, after 2 doses of antibiotics, Aiden finally asked for food.  He ate half a piece of toast for breakfast and that was it so I am happy that he seems to be getting his appetite back.  Hopefully we are both on the mend now- just in time for our trip to Florida in a couple of weeks!

{17/365} Aiden at 2 1/2

I haven't done an update on Aiden at 2 1/2 yet.  He's officially been 2 1/2 for 2 months.  He is 32 months today.  So hard to believe.  Today I am using some pictures from pictures we had taken at the end of October for Christmas cards.  There are so many I love!

Aiden went to the doctor in November for her 2 1/2 year check up.  He weighed in at 25 pounds and was 35 inches tall.  He remains in the 8th percentile for weight and jumped up to the 22nd percentile for height.  He grew 2 inches in 6 months!

Aiden is a very healthy boy.  Until this weekend, he hadn't been truly sick in a long time.  He ahd an ear infection last May and that's really about it other than a cold every now and then.  We have never been to the doctor for anything other than a well check.
Sleep hasn't changed much since this fall.  He is still sleeping with me.  Some nights he will fall asleep on his own in my bed, other times we needs me right there.  I figure I will not even attempt to put him back in his room until I purchase his big boy bed.
Potty training.  Huh?  What's that?  We try.  Aiden has no interest.  Aiden will sit and try at school but almost never actually goes.  He will sit on his potty at home but will make sure I know it's just "for pretend".  Maybe if I wait long enough he will potty train himself?  Meh.  He won't be wearing diapers to kindergarten....I hope!

Aiden continues to be a funny, funny boy.  He says the craziest and funniest things as I have posted about in previous posts.  His favorite responses when I tell him something are, "oh, brother" and "for sure".  If I correct his behavior or ask him to stop doing something he still always asks, "are you happy?"  Recently he will add, "are you sad" or "that makes me sad" depending on his mood.  Most of the time he is a good helper and I rarely have to ask him to stop something.  He is rarely in time out.
Aiden loves to be outside.  He seems to be immune to extreme heat and extreme cold.  When we are inside his favorite things to do are play cars and play with his puzzles.  He truly amazes me with his puzzle putting together abilities.  I need to get a few more challenging ones. He also spends a lot of time working at his play kitchen.  Aiden has a play doctor's kit that he uses.  Not only does it have all of the "doctor things" it came with but Aiden has added a play screwdriver, wrench and saw.  He is always giving hair cuts, taking my "tempature" and listening to my heart.  The other day I asked him how my heart sounded.  He said, "I think your heart has gas".  Why do I ask?!?
He is doing well at school.  Next year he will be going 3 days a week.  He also still loves his time with Gram and Papa.  I think that's pretty obvious from these pictures!

He loves to cuddle- on his terms.  Most of the time he goes non stop.  Aiden is always jumping and stomping and, well, moving!  We were at gymb0ree last week and talking about his party with his teacher.  She asked what kind of party he wanted.  Aiden said a stomping party.  I asked him a little while later and he told me we wanted a jumping party.
Aiden still quotes his favorite shows, even when he hasn't seen them for a while.  If he's heard it once, most likely he'll remember it.  And he rarely sits and watches a show.  He usually watches while playing. Umizoomi and Backyardigans are still his favorites followed closely by Wonder Pets.

I know I am going to have to keep going back to this post to add things as I remember them.  It's hard to believe that is 4 shorts months Aiden will be 3.  Yikes!  I look forward to watching him grow and blossom as he inches (more like leaps) closer and closer to the big 3!  He is such a joy and I love experiencing the world with him.  Happy 32 months Aiden Bao!

{14.15.16/365} Sick

Poor Aiden.  When I got to my parents' house on Friday afternoon, Aiden had a temperature of 104 and was not feeling well at all.  His eyes were swollen and he was listless.  He'd get about an hour of relief and then the meds would wear off and he's be back to laying on the couch.  He was so miserable and I felt so bad for him.  I guess the upside of all of this was lots of snuggle time for the two of us.
The congestion set in later that night and woke him up around 5:30 on Saturday morning.  He still had the fever pretty much all day.  He slept on the couch (and on me) for several hours on Saturday afternoon (again, lots of snuggle time and a bonus- catching up on all of the shows on the dvr!). The gastrointestinal issues started around 4 that afternoon. I think I changed about 8 diapers.  He was still super congested which caused some vomiting during the night last night.
This morning the fever was gone.  He still has the bad cold but all other symptoms are pretty much gone.  He had plenty of energy, that's for sure!
He's still not feeling 100% but I think I can safely say Aiden is on the mend!  Now let's hope Mommy avoids this yucky virus...
